Job Summary

The City of Clayton Police Department is now recruiting for a Police Administrative Supervisor. The purpose of this role is to provide technical support to manage and plan the functions of the Administrative Division of the Police Department

The mission of the Clayton Police Department is to provide a safe and secure environment for the residents business community and visitors in the City of Clayton through the effective and efficient delivery of professional positive and innovative services. Long recognized as a leader among municipal police agencies in St. Louis County the Clayton Police Department consistently endeavors to ensure the quality of its personnel and has historically fielded one of the best-educated highly trained and most respected police forces in the metropolitan keeping with its tradition as a leader in the year 2000 the Department was among the first law enforcement agencies in the State of Missouri to successfully achieve accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Essential duties and responsibilities of the Police Administrative Supervisor:

  1. Completes staff assignments for the Chief of Police. Assists Chief of Police and commands Staff with policy and procedural research and implementation.
  2. Conducts historical statistical and analytical research on request for various concerns.
  3. Conducts research into information management communication and records issues and areas that are under consideration for departmental implementation aimed at improving overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. Researches and implements new technological advances for departmental in-house and in-field use.
  5. Administers and maintains departmental records and equipment to include coordination of required internal state and federal audits.
  6. Makes copies and performs redaction of in-car camera/body camera footage per Sunshine Law and PA inquiries.
  7. Oversees certified departmental training on use of Criminal Justice Information Systems and programs. Reviews and acts upon REJIS MULES and NCIC CJIS updates and requirements.
  8. Supervises office personnel coordinating the planning and assignment of work projects establishes performance goals and objectives and conducts performance appraisals.
  9. Responds to and acts upon citizen inquiries and complaints concerning areas of responsibilities and subordinates.
  10. Departmental liaison to numerous outside entities to include REJIS MULES FBI ECDC St. Louis County other local governments as well as numerous vendors.
  11. Serves on inter-departmental and intra-departmental committees as required or directed.
  12. Assists in administrative portion of annual budget preparation as well as budget projections for upcoming project purchases. Authorize purchases for office and equipment supplies.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications of the Police Administrative Supervisor

Must have minimum of five (5) years work- related experience in policing or related to emergency management operations.

Must have work experience with multiple software systems

Preferred Qualifications of the Police Administrative Supervisor:

Work experience with REJIS MULES and or NCIC Reporting preferred but not required

Bachelors Degree in criminal justice or closely related field
