We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Marketing Manager to lead the local brand strategy for a global performance footwear and apparel company. You will be responsible for taking the brand to the next level in South Africa driving both brand consideration and business results through a combination of trade marketing digital expertise and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
Lead the marketing function: Oversee the local marketing strategy acting as the key spokesperson and main point of contact for customers agencies and internal stakeholders
Own trade marketing: Manage end-to-end trade marketing plansfrom concept and execution to analysisto drive sell-out and strengthen retailer relationships
Develop annual plans: Create and implement marketing plans for direct-to-consumer (in partnership with the Retail Manager) and wholesale channels ensuring all initiatives deliver measurable ROI
Manage the budget: Take full responsibility for the marketing budget including pitching reporting and financial control
Lead and develop a team: Manage and mentor a team of two (Digital Specialist and Sports Marketing Specialist) fostering collaboration and professional growth
Ensure brand consistency: Oversee all local activations content creation and campaigns to ensure they are on-brand and aligned with global/regional guidelines
Drive insights & reporting: Conduct market analysis (competitors retail insights digital trends) and work with agencies to improve the digital dashboard and reporting
Skills & Experience (Not negotiable):
Experience: 8 years in marketing with significant consumer brand experience. Ideally within the retail sport or lifestyle sector
Leadership: Proven experience managing and developing a team (3 years)
Trade marketing expertise: Strong background in trade marketing working closely with sales teams and retail partners to execute effective in-store and B2B campaigns
Strategic & analytical: Skilled in developing strategic plans and using market data to inform decisions. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency required
Well-rounded marketer: Demonstrated capabilities across media digital PR and trade marketing
