Job Summary

Applications are invited for appointment as IT Manager / IT Officer in the Division of Community Medicine and Public Health Practice School of Public Health (Ref.: 534650) to commence as soon as possible on a one-temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related discipline with at least 3-5 years of IT development and managerial experience. They should possess strong knowledge of survey programming and research data workflows as well as excellent problemsolving project management and communication skills. The ability to multitask prioritize effectively and work independently and as part of a team is essential. Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

The appointee will primarily support a wide range of innovative large-scale research initiatives including work with a large population-based cohort with over 46000 participants across 20000 households. He/She will be involved in leading feasibility studies for new data collection projects overseeing full-cycle development of research web applications and managing IT services for major research grants. Responsibilities include developing backend server applications for longitudinal data building CRUD applications for data validation and automation and creating real-time dashboards and advanced research instruments. The position also entails deploying and managing applications with strong attention to data privacy and server security automating extraction and aggregation of usage logs maintaining long-term cohort datasets analysing text data for modelling generating thematic maps for publications and documenting legacy Python codebases while testing new API integrations. The appointee will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical customisation IT training fieldwork support and supervision of junior staff. Additional duties include vendor liaison administrative oversight of outsourced projects and assisting with general administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
