As we scale we are looking for a sharp and commercially-minded Legal & Compliance Officer to join our team and help us navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of our global operations.
Reporting to senior leadership the Legal & Compliance Officer will be responsible for managing legal risk ensuring regulatory compliance and providing sound commercial legal advice across Raydas global markets. This is a high-impact cross-functional role suited to a proactive legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced remote-first technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Commercial Law
- Draft review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including SaaS agreements MSAs NDAs vendor contracts and partnership agreements.
- Advise on corporate governance matters entity structuring and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support M&A fundraising and investor relations activities from a legal and due diligence standpoint.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel in relevant markets to ensure cost-effective and timely legal support.
- Maintain and update the companys contract management system and legal templates library.
Data Privacy & GDPR Compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all data privacy matters across the organisation.
- Ensure Raydas products services and internal operations are compliant with GDPR NDPR (Nigeria) POPIA (South Africa) CCPA (California) PDPA and other applicable data protection regulations.
- Conduct and maintain Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs).
- Draft and update privacy policies cookie policies data processing agreements (DPAs) and standard contractual clauses (SCCs).
- Manage data subject access requests (DSARs) data breach incidents and regulatory notifications.
- Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles.
Regulatory & General Compliance
- Monitor and interpret changes in applicable laws and regulations across Raydas operating regions and proactively communicate impact to the business.
- Develop maintain and enforce internal compliance policies codes of conduct and compliance training programmes.
- Support the preparation of regulatory submissions licensing applications and responses to regulatory enquiries.
- Assess and manage legal and compliance risks in new market entry strategies.
- Maintain compliance calendars and ensure timely filings renewals and statutory obligations are met across all jurisdictions.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Support
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to product sales engineering finance and people teams.
- Train and educate internal stakeholders on relevant legal and compliance topics.
- Support People & HR teams with employment-related legal matters across jurisdictions.
- Manage and improve legal operations processes and tooling to increase efficiency at scale.

- Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) and a recognised professional qualification (e.g. BL SRA NY Bar or equivalent).
- 3 6 years of post-qualification legal experience ideally spanning both in-house and law firm environments.
- Demonstrable expertise in commercial contracts and corporate law.
- Hands-on experience with GDPR compliance programmes DPIAs DPAs and data subject rights management.
- Strong understanding of data protection law across multiple jurisdictions (EU UK US and/or Africa).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities deadlines and stakeholders in a remote distributed environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex legal issues into clear actionable guidance.
Preferred
- Prior in-house legal experience at a SaaS fintech or HR technology company.
- Familiarity with employment law across African and European markets.
- Experience supporting international expansion cross-border contracting or multi-entity corporate structures.
- Exposure to data privacy tooling (e.g. OneTrust TrustArc or similar).
- CIPP/E CIPM or equivalent data privacy certification is a strong advantage.
- Comfort working in early-to-mid stage technology companies with a high degree of autonomy.
