Job Summary
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides immediate and comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses injuries and life-threatening conditions. This role involves rapid patient assessment triage stabilization and coordination with emergency physicians and multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity emergency care environment.
The ER RN is responsible for delivering care to both adult and pediatric patients ensuring timely treatment patient safety and effective communication throughout the emergency care process.
Key Responsibilities
Perform rapid patient triage and clinical assessments in an emergency care setting.
Provide nursing care to adult and pediatric patients presenting with acute conditions.
Administer medications IV fluids and emergency treatments according to physician orders.
Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to critical or life-threatening situations.
Assist with trauma resuscitations and emergency procedures.
Collaborate with physicians paramedics and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely patient care.
Perform procedures such as IV insertion medication administration and wound care.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
Adhere to hospital protocols infection control standards and patient safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum 1.5 years of recent nursing experience within the past two years in an acute care hospital setting.
Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-acuity emergency department.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers.
Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Previous experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients.
