Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant- Data Migration Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to support large-scale migration of legacy Mainframe data (DB2 VSAM IMS flat files) to Oracle Database (19c/21c or Oracle Cloud).The role involves data extraction transformation validation reconciliation performance optimization and ensuring zero data loss during migration.
This position is critical for modernization programs in Banking Financial Services Insurance or other mission-critical industries
Responsibilities
. Legacy Data Analysis
Analyze and understand:
oDB2 schemas (z/OS)
oVSAM files (KSDS/ESDS/RRDS)
oIMS databases
oCOBOL copybooks and data structures
Perform data profiling and impact analysis.
Identify data dependencies and embedded business rules.

2. Data Mapping & Transformation
Create source-to-target mapping documents.
Convert legacy data formats to relational Oracle models.
Define transformation rules and cleansing logic.
Handle:
oEBCDIC to ASCII conversions
oPacked decimal / COMP-3 fields
oDate format standardization

3. ETL Development & Execution
Develop ETL processes using:
oOracle Data Integrator (ODI)
oInformatica (optional)
oOracle SQL Loader
oCustom Python/Shell scripts
Perform bulk data loading and incremental migrations.
Optimize load performance.

Perform record-level reconciliation between:
oMainframe source
oOracle target
Validate:
oData completeness
oReferential integrity
oBalancing totals (financial data)
Generate reconciliation reports and dashboards.
