Who are we looking for

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our growing Maritime & Coastal (M&C) practice on the East Coast where you will play a pivotal role in shaping resilient forward-thinking coastal and waterfront this position you will provide technical and design support while leading complex projects from concept through delivery managing client relationships and contributing to strategic business development initiatives across North Carolina South Carolina and Georgia. You will lead and collaborate on a diverse portfolio of coastal waterfront and municipal infrastructure improvement and resiliency projects bringing together strong technical engineering expertise with proven project and client management skills.

As a Senior Project Manager at GHD you will help grow our presence in the region by leading and supporting pursuit and proposal efforts shaping project scope schedules and budgets and expanding existing client relationships across public and private sectors. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to deliver high-quality technical reports plans and specifications while coordinating with clients suppliers and regulators to drive projects to successful completion.

Beyond project delivery you will serve as a visible ambassador for GHD by participating in local committees action groups and industry organizations presenting at conferences as subject matter expert and contributing to stakeholder engagement strategies that strengthen collaboration and trust. You will mentor and develop junior staff proactively coach project teams and uphold GHDs core values of Safety Teamwork Trust and Integrityensuring excellence in quality efficiency and performance while helping the business meet backlog goals and achieve sustained growth.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Project Resource Management: Negotiate and manage deployment of project resource budgets providing forecasts and presenting variances with narrative at appropriate review points to ensure effective utilization.
• Project Governance: Clarify roles and responsibilities within the project team and ensure project compliance with the organizations wider program and/or portfolio management decision-making structures and processes.
• Project Risk and Issue Management: Ensure that risks issues dependencies and constraints are managed appropriately at project level. Where risks or issues threaten delivery of the project develop and agree on recovery plans.
• Portfolio Management: Initiate and lead the governance and delivery of a program or group of significant projects within a function using an appropriate project management methodology to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved.
• Project Team Management: Lead large project and program teams (or multiple small- to medium-sized teams); define the project/program vision communicate the necessary outcomes and provide guidance to achieve these outcomes; manage resources across projects/programs; negotiate the flow of additional team members on and off the team as needed; and build the capability of the team through training coaching and mentoring.
• Personal Capability Building: Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology policy regulation or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development attending conferences and reading specialist media.
• Project Benefit Realization: Develop and manage the delivery of a plan to evaluate and track business benefits and to identify actions needed to maximize them.
• Enterprise Business Analysis: Interpret the business need and identify solution recommendations to business problems at a business unit level.
• Project Scope Definition: Lead the planning and delivery of a wide range of information gathering and stakeholder consultation activities and specify negotiate and agree on program and project deliverables ensuring integration across the program.
• Stakeholder Management: Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and plans across the program to identify relevant stakeholders to create mutually supportive working relationships and to ensure that each stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice at both project and program levels.
• Leadership and Direction: Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the functions strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organizations mission vision and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
• Transformational Change Management: Manage projects or substantial workstreams within a transformational change program ensuring integration with related projects; use structured change management methodologies to build acceptance of change and to embed desired culture and behaviors.
• Culture of Innovation: Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity innovation and collaboration across business units such as idea generation platforms jam sessions and hackathons.
• Project Assurance: Manage the delivery of assurance reviews within a project enable the delivery of assurance reviews by independent third parties and take appropriate action to resolve any issues identified to give senior stakeholders confidence that the project can deliver according to time budget and quality.

What youll bring to the team:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering

• 17-20 years of engineering and project management experience for coastal and offshore structures

• Registered Professional Engineer in South Carolina required

• Able and willing to travel to office project/job sites and client offices as needed

• Experience with alternative delivery projects desirable

• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while supporting personnel in both remote and in-person settings
