We now invite applications for appointment as Teacher-researcher (at the grade of Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant I/II) on part-time basis in the Centre for Information Technology in Education within the Faculty of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will work on an assessment project aligned with one domain of the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) framework. He/She will complete training on assessment task design delivered by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and be responsible for developing age-appropriate digital assessment tasks and scoring rubrics for P4-S3 students including but not limited to drafting interactive assessment items formulating detailed scoring rules collaborating with the project team on iterative refinement of assessment materials and ensuring all work aligns with OECD and PISA standards.
Essential Requirements
a Bachelors degree or higher in Education Science Computer Science or a related field with extensive hands-on teaching experience in science or computing-related subjects for students in upper primary or junior secondary levels;
at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience;
a strong conceptual understanding of computational or scientific inquiry practices and ideally self-regulated learning;
strong communication skills in English;
the ability to write assessment items in English or Chinese;
digital proficiency and a willingness to learn digital authoring environment;
the ability to work independently in accordance with project guidelines and timelines and as part of a collaborative team.
candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I/II.
Desirable Attributes
experience in developing assessment items that map to a curriculum or assessment framework;
familiarity with evidence-centred design principles;
experience using digital assessment platforms;
experience developing interactive open-ended items using such as block-based coding executable concept maps spreadsheets and graphs for data exploration.
What We Offer
The appointment will commence in early April 2026 on a temporary part-time basis for up to three months. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
