The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is home to 1 in 1 7 New Yorkers providing affordable housing to 528 1 05 authorized residents through public housing and Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) programs as well as Section 8 housing. NYCHAs mission is to provide quality housing for New Yorkers that is sustainable inclusive and safe while fostering opportunities for economic mobility. NYCHA employs approximately 12000 workers who manage the backend and frontline operations of 177569 apartments in 241 1 buildings across 335 conventional public housing and PACT developments.
NYCHAs Heating Management Services Department (HMSD) is responsible for ensuring adequate and consistent heat and hot water is provided to NYCHA Residents citywide. HMSD is responsible for the management and repair of boilers hot water tanks and all ancillary equipment pertaining to the heating addition to the annual overhaul process for inspecting and repairing all heating equipment HMSD staff conduct inspections three times weekly of all ancillary equipment to ensure proper operation.
HMSD is currently seeking a Community Coordinator who is responsible for the daily operation in support of NYCHAs extensive network and manages partnerships programs and initiatives through two (2) of the 1 1 main departments: HMSD & Fuel Oil Remediation Unit. The Heating Centralized Support Services Section supports the field residents at large and other stakeholders through tracking and data analysis project management resident communication equipment violations 24x7 Heat Desk contract management and through HMSD Planning Unit and Skilled Trades. HMSD Training Unit administers heating training to all staff including frontline and supervisors. This unit also comprises of administrative functions including human resources and timekeeping.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
as liaison between VP and Senior Directors functioning as a resource for identifying problem areas and developing solutions; and ensure timely flow of information between VP and Senior Directors.
as key member of the Heating Management Services Department team; provide strategic support and partnership to implement change management processes and execute business process improvement plans.
and support key operational and project management processes and systems to enhance effective coordination and collaboration among the leadership team and staff.
and evaluate metrics for the division. Review and analyze departmental operations and service delivery; make recommendations for enhancements and improved effectiveness at meeting performance goals.
a wide range of matters of institutional importance on behalf of the VP including budgetary and personnel matters managing correspondence and overseeing key projects to support the development of a strong organizational infrastructure for HMSD.
meetings with staff on behalf of the VP. Serve as liaison to other NYCHA departments representing HMSD Services in internal and external working groups and committees as appropriate.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
