As a Engineer - Structural (Dams & Hydropower) team you will provide support to a variety of dam safety engineering projects primarily in the United States but not exclusively. The role require proficiency in reviewing pertinent dam information (geotechnical hydraulic/hydrologic structural and construction) performing structural calculations and analyses and developing design and analysis reports under the supervision of an experienced dam engineer.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support to dam project managers including design analysis and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.
- Perform dam analysis and design such as structural stability and strength analysis of concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillways outlet works and other site civil structures).
- Perform detail checks and quality reviews of other engineers work.
- Prepare structural evaluation reports drawings and specifications for dam projects.
- Prepare structural drawings and visual aids through coordination with the CAD team.
- Communicate with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures.
- Show a desire to progress toward greater responsibility including task leadership.
Minimum requirements
- Previous experience with dams levees or water retaining structures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Exhibits initiative responsibility and flexibility
- Resourceful highly organized professional with attention to detail
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
- Experience with related software such as AutoCAD Mathcad and commercially available structural analysis software (STADD Pro SAP2000 Ansys etc.)
Qualifications :
- BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
- Masters degree in civil engineering with focus on Structural Engineering - advantageous.
- 4-8 years experience with a minimum 4 years of relevant Structural Engineering experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or working towards registration.
