Job Title: Senior Specialist Compliance & Sustainability
Location: Jakarta Indonesia
Reports to: Divisional Manager Compliance & Sustainability (Vietnam-based)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Compliance & Sustainability professional to oversee the implementation of compliance sustainability and raw material traceability programs in this critical role you will act as the subject matter expert on the ground working closely with factory vendors merchandising teams and country leadership to ensure business continuity by mitigating risks related to social compliance supply chain security and brand protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Identification: Monitor the local landscape to identify potential compliance sustainability and traceability risks; escalate issues promptly to the Head of Compliance & Sustainability and the Country Manager to minimize business disruption.
- Vendor Engagement: Conduct factory visits to assess social compliance supply chain security and brand protection. Assist mill vendors in understanding supply chain mapping and maintaining records that meet regulatory and customer expectations.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Build effective communication channels with the Country Manager and merchandising teams. Engage with external stakeholders including Better Work Indonesia local NGOs trade associations and third-party service providers to stay updated on industry initiatives.
- Training & Analysis: Analyze vendor performance metrics and provide technical training to Vendor Compliance Officers on customer requirements and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
- Traceability Systems: Support the development of systems for raw material traceability. Leverage experience with supply chain mapping tools and intelligence services to enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Degree holder with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a sizeable organization preferably within a garment buying office or the garment industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of garment factory operations; basic knowledge of fabric/yarn production and sustainable fibers.
- Core Competencies:
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-up.
- Proven ability to build relationships in a multicultural environment.
- Willingness to Travel: Must be willing to conduct factory visits in Indonesia and occasionally within the wider Asia region.
Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous)
- Experience with supply chain mapping tools (e.g. SourceMap) intelligence services (e.g. Kharon) or isotopic testing services (e.g. Oritain).
- Accreditation under APSCA SA8000 or other social compliance certification bodies.
