Workers Compensation Attorney (Associate - Partner)

About the Role:

The firm is seeking attorneys at multiple levels to join its Workers Compensation Defense practice in the Richmond office. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with highly experienced partners and a strong litigation support team while handling a dynamic and active docket.

The role focuses exclusively on workers compensation defense matters and provides the chance to build deep subject-matter expertise in a high-volume fast-paced practice. Attorneys will support a partner-led docket of approximately 100 150 active matters with increasing responsibility and autonomy as experience grows.

This position is ideal for attorneys who are comfortable managing a busy caseload enjoy client interaction and are looking for hands-on litigation experience including depositions hearings and settlement negotiations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing a robust workers compensation defense docket.
  • Draft pleadings motions discovery responses medical summaries position statements and settlement documents.
  • Conduct depositions and assist in preparing cases for hearings.
  • Communicate regularly with clients claims professionals medical providers and opposing counsel.
  • Support partners in case strategy hearing preparation and settlement evaluation.
  • Attend workers compensation hearings which occur regularly throughout the month.
  • Contribute to case analysis negotiation strategy and resolution planning.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Virginia Bar admission in good standing.
  • Associate candidates: 1 5 years of workers compensation defense experience.
  • Partner candidates: 10 years of workers compensation defense experience.
  • Strong legal writing analytical and file management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently in a fast-paced practice.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or medical background is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
