Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Masters degree from a recognized accredited college or university (preferred)
  • Certification in bilingual education (preferred) or ESL certification
  • Texas certification in elementary education
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as an emergent bilingual classroom teacher
  • Demonstrated skill in leading motivating and cooperating with others

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 193 days

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborate with emergent bilingual teachers to provide targeted support and interventions for emergent bilingual (EB) students.
  2. Collaborate with emergent bilingual teachers in the planning and implementation of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) TEKS and district curriculum to differentiate instruction for EB students.
  3. Utilize STAAR TELPAS and district data to develop campus action plans to improve the academic progress and achievement for EB students.
  4. Facilitate training on English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and linguistic accommodations to build teacher capacity and support differentiated instruction for EB students.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the campus and district to support the alignment of the emergent bilingual program.
  6. Coach emergent bilingual teachers in implementing individualized linguistic accommodations aligned with the TELPAS domains of listening speaking reading and writing.
  7. Collaborate with the campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) to assist in the identification placement linguistic accommodations evaluation reclassification and monitoring of EB students.
  8. Participate in district trainings and professional development focused on supporting EB students.
  9. Ensure compliance with state statues and requirements for EB students.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Special Populations.
