Position SummaryThe Assistant Director for Operations and Student Support is a full-time year-round administrative leadership position at River Valley Charter School (RVCS) a K8 public Montessori charter school. Reporting directly to the Executive Director the Assistant Director serves as a key partner in the day-to-day leadership of the school with primary responsibility for student support systems school operations compliance coordination and family-facing processes. This role is designed to strengthen leadership capacity ensure operational continuity and support a safe well-organized and mission-aligned school environment. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with faculty staff students families and leadership team members to implement school initiatives and respond effectively to student family and operational needs. Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the duties outlined below.I. Leadership & Executive Partnership* Serve as a key administrative partner to the Executive Director in the implementation of school operations student support systems and school-wide initiatives.* Implement the Schools vision and directives under the Executive Directors leadership and decision-making authority.* Serve as Acting Executive Director in the Executive Directors absence as designated.* Keep the Executive Director fully informed of significant student family staff operational compliance and risk-related issues.* Support preparation of reports data and materials for Board of Trustees meetings and committees as directed by the Executive Director while maintaining appropriate governancemanagement . Student & Family Support and Discipline* Serve as the primary administrator for student discipline and behavioral matters in alignment with school policies and restorative practices.* Facilitate meetings with families to address student behavioral social-emotional and disciplinary concerns.* Coordinate incident documentation communication and follow-up with families and staff.* Support coordination across student services including special education Section 504 accommodations English learner supports and behavioral services in collaboration with designated specialists.* Attend student support IEP and problem-solving meetings as requested by the Executive Director.* Support enrollment orientation and transition processes for new students and . School Culture Communication & Family Engagement* Draft and distribute the school newsletter and support timely school-wide communications.* Coordinate family engagement events such as Open Houses Back-to-School Nights and parent meetings.* Support systems that promote positive school culture including family mentoring or buddy programs.* Attend staff meetings and assist with documentation follow-up and communication as needed.* Support school-wide initiatives related to climate culture and community . Academic & Instructional Support* Support instructional teams through participation in meetings focused on student support assessment and progress monitoring.* Conduct classroom walkthroughs and observations as assigned and share findings with the Executive Director.* Coordinate assessment administration and logistics including MCAS and internal assessments.* Organize analyze and support communication of academic and school performance data to inform continuous improvement.* Assist with planning and coordination of professional development activities.V. Operations & Systems Coordination* Support development maintenance and communication of school calendars schedules and coverage plans.* Coordinate logistics for meetings events and student placement processes.* Maintain and update school-facing systems such as the website and shared calendars as assigned.* Support organization and functionality of shared school spaces and operational . Accountability & Compliance* Support the Executive Director in monitoring ongoing compliance with DESE regulations charter accountability requirements and applicable state and federal laws.* Assist with preparation of the Annual Report Accountability Plan and internal compliance documentation.* Support preparation for DESE MassCharter and other external reviews audits or data requests.* Assist with development and revision of school policies and procedures in collaboration with the Executive Director.
