Assistant IT Officer in the School of Biological Sciences (Ref.: 534582) (on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totaling up to 10% of basic salary with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in substantial system maintenance and programming on Linux and Windows operating systems as well as in managing network systems. Knowledge of AI infrastructure and configuring high-performance computing (HPC) systems to support the Schools development is required. Experience in designing developing and maintaining websites and social media platforms is essential. A good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese is required along with a strong sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills. Applicants with lower academic qualifications may also be considered if they possess substantial relevant work experience.
The appointee will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining the Schools website and social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter) as well as configuring and setting up computer systems and related devices. Key duties include providing technical support and troubleshooting IT issues for staff and students supporting server operations and data security and managing AI infrastructure and HPC systems to advance the Schools initiatives. The appointee will help organize and update teaching practical manuals collaborate with the central-facility Technician-in-charge to prepare system standard operating procedures and instructional videos and assist with routine tasks related to teaching practical setup as needed. He/She will also perform any other duties as assigned.
