Nottingham City Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) - one of the most significant changes to local government in Nottinghams history. We are looking for a skilled motivated and peoplefocused Consultation Engagement & Participation Officer to help ensure residents communities partners and voluntary sector organisations are fully involved in shaping this transformation. This is a unique chance to be part of a highprofile programme that will influence the future of services community empowerment and democratic participation across the city.
About the Role
As part of the Research Engagement & Consultation (REC) Team youll help ensure the Councils consultation and engagement work is robust inclusive and insightled. Working closely with the REC Team Manager and the LGR Implementation Director youll support the design planning and delivery of engagement for the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programme ensuring proposals reflect residents views and community needs. Youll also support key corporate consultations including the Future Council Conversation Citizens Survey Budget Consultation and other statutory engagement duties. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with diverse communities values evidencebased decisionmaking and is committed to fair accessible and inclusive engagement.
What Youll Do
In this impactful and varied role you will:
Support engagement for LGR planning and implementation
- Design deliver and analyse consultation and engagement activities to inform LGR proposals.
- Work with the LGR Implementation Director and REC Manager to plan and qualityassure engagement workstreams.
Champion meaningful resident and stakeholder engagement
- Support engagement with residents community groups voluntary organisations and partners.
- Strengthen community empowerment and involvement in shaping how future services will operate.
Apply strategic frameworks & inclusive practice
- Support the implementation of frameworks and standards for engaging citizens with protected characteristics including disabled residents and children & young people.
- Monitor and evaluate how these approaches are applied across the Council.
Support corporate consultation programmes
- Contribute to major corporate consultations including the Citizens Survey Budget Consultation and Future Council Conversation.
- Support the Councils statutory consultation requirements.
Develop insight and good practice
- Use data insight and analysis to improve understanding of customer needs.
- Support commissioning and service design through evidencebased engagement.
Enhance digital engagement capability
- Help develop tools resources and digital platforms that support highquality engagement and participation.
Monitor and improve engagement practice
- Evaluate engagement activity across the organisation and identify improvements.
About You
Were looking for someone who is enthusiastic about participation confident working with diverse communities and comfortable translating insight into meaningful action.
You will bring:
- Understanding of effective engagement and consultation practice
- Experience planning delivering or supporting consultation and engagement activity
- Ability to analyse data and use insight to inform decisions
- Strong communication facilitation and partnershipbuilding skills
- Ability to influence colleagues and work across departments and services
- Experience using digital engagement or survey tools (any platform)
- Commitment to equality accessibility and inclusive engagement
