Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Plant Fitter to join their Vehicle Workshop team in Mutare.
The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting diagnosing servicing and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and heavy plant equipment to ensure optimal fleet availability and operational efficiency while adhering to established safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:
- Diagnose faults in diesel engines vehicles and heavy plant equipment using manual and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to service or maintenance work.
- Perform routine maintenance services including services on trucks and heavy plant equipment.
- Repair or replace worn damaged or defective mechanical components.
- Test and adjust mechanical systems and components to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct test drives and performance checks after repairs or servicing.
- Monitor and maintain diagnostic machinery and workshop equipment to ensure proper calibration and operational efficiency.
- Complete job cards and maintain accurate maintenance records for all work carried out.
- Support and guide workshop assistants apprentices and semi-skilled mechanics where required.
- Ensure strict compliance with workshop Standard Operating Procedures and statutory vehicle inspection standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety health and environmental regulations.
- Carry out housekeeping activities and maintain workshop cleanliness standards.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Key Skills:
- Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment for diesel engines and heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines heavy vehicles and plant equipment maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and engine faults accurately.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and diagnostic reports.
- Good record-keeping and job card reporting skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and within a workshop team.
Qualifications:
- National Certificate in Diesel Plant Fitting or related discipline.
- Skilled Worker Class 1 Certification.
- Apprentice trained in Diesel Plant Fitting or heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a mechanical workshop environment.
