The Role
As Teacher of English you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the opportunity to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and departmental need. You will teach a wide range of literature and language supporting pupils to develop:
Close reading and sophisticated textual analysis
Confident extended writing with a strong academic voice
Accurate grammar style and vocabulary choices
Discussion and debate skills through purposeful oracy work
Creative writing and wider reading habits that build imagination and insight
Pupils study novels plays poetry and non-fiction exploring writers craft context and the power of language. Lessons encourage thoughtful interpretation independent thinking and high-quality written expression while ensuring pupils develop strong examination technique where relevant.
You will contribute to shared planning enrichment and the wider co-curricular life of the school including reading initiatives clubs trips or theatre visits.
