As Manager Addiction and Suicide Prevention Policy youll lead the development of strategic policy and drive system-wide initiatives that make a measurable difference to health and wellbeing outcomes. Lead strategic policy development and implementation relating to addiction and suicide prevention ensuring initiatives align with Government and Ministry priorities while providing clear consistent reporting on progress and outcomes.
Apply and enable critical thinking and thought leadership to design policies and programmes that advance government priorities with a strong focus on equity and improved outcomes for priority populations based on need.
Drive key programmes of work across the Group Ministry and in partnership with Health New Zealand ensuring planning delivery and evaluation contribute to government objectives and long-term system improvements.
Provide strong leadership to your team fostering capability supporting professional growth and ensuring high-quality timely contextual and strategically relevant policy advice.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships across the Ministry the wider health sector government agencies and external partners to enable effective influence partnership and delivery.
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What youll bring
Demonstrated policy and strategy expertise supported by a tertiary qualification in health or a related field (or equivalent experience) and a strong understanding of the machinery of government.
Outstanding verbal and written communication and advisory skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear influential messages for diverse audiences including Ministers.
Proven leadership and management capability with significant experience developing people building highperforming teams and modelling public service values.
Strong commitment to evidenceinformed policy integrating data analysis equity considerations and diverse community insights into highquality advice and decisionmaking.
Collaborative relationshipbuilding skills with a track record of successfully working with stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve shared outcomes across complex sectors.
A solid understanding of the mental health addiction and suicide prevention sector including current policy challenges; lived experience of mental health and/or addiction is highly valued alongside strong cultural competence and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
