Summary:
Responsible for coordinating communication between Central Dispatch and Central Maintenance to ensure that equipment decisions are made to support both operational service requirements and maintenance compliance. This role will act as a neutral decision maker and central point of contact for equipment status tracking of service switches trailer bank management and equipment moves.
The Equipment Coordinator ensures equipment is properly assigned maintained tracked tagged and documented to support safe and efficient linehaul operations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary liaison between Central Dispatch and Central Maintenance regarding equipment availability and maintenance requirements
- Assess operational needs vs maintenance requirements to make neutral independent decisions on equipment allocation with minimal direction from the department managers
- Work with Edmonton and Toronto suppliers daily to ensure outbound equipment lineups are complete by equipment type
- Ensure operational continuity while maintaining maintenance compliance with safety and mechanical standards
- Escalate conflicts or urgent equipment concerns to the on duty Dispatch Supervisor
- Directing the management of equipment moves service switches and out of place equipment
- Complete late coding in the BK acceptance queue
- Assist with equipment related operational decisions
- Coordinate proactive repositioning of equipment
- Identify inefficiencies and help develop equipment allocation strategies
- Complete the daily super truck list ensuring equipment is in an available status
- Responsible for trailer bank counts
Qualifications :
- Ability to make decisions under pressure
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain neutral and objective
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- A strong understanding of the Linehaul Network and geography is an asset
- An understanding of equipment & maintenance is considered an asset
