Position Title: Marketing Coordinator Canada Summer Jobs

Location: Hamilton ON

Term: Full-time Contract 8 weeks (Existing Vacancy) 2 positions

Reports To: National Manager Federal & Contracted Programs

Salary: $17.60/hour

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

This funded position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program offers the opportunity to gain meaningful experience and learn practical skills associated with working in an organization that provides professional vision rehabilitation services.

VLRC is seeking an energetic dynamic Marketing Coordinator who will support with planning implementing and evaluating the promotion of disability navigation services and the GAIN program at VLRC to external organizations and partners.

In this role the individual will develop practical skills in community outreach market research digital and accessible communications content creation public speaking and workshop design. The Marketing Coordinator will complete market research and data collection contribute to building a database of referral partners developing and delivering virtual outreach workshops and preparing marketing materials that improve awareness and access to disability navigation services. The position also provides exposure to assistive and accessible technology and offers opportunities to learn how AI-enabled tools support individuals with vision loss.

To be eligible for the funding associated with this position you must be:

Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

A Canadian citizen permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Protection Act

Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

As directed by management work to launch an Outreach Strategy and Communication Plan to promote VLRCs GAIN Program to relevant organizations in an effort to increase referrals for disability navigation services.

Conduct research and data collection to identify local health and community-based organizations serving a wide range of marginalized and underserved populations who may require assistance with disability benefits.

Develop and maintain a digital database of organizations supporting underserved populations and contacts with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality in order to share information about our services and referral form.

Create and deliver accessible virtual workshops to promote the GAIN Program and enhance understanding of resources available for disability benefits navigation.

Develop format and edit marketing and digital communication materials.

Conduct market social media and community engagement research to identify opportunities to enhance digital presence and outreach effectiveness.

Develop and implement online resources.

Complete evaluation at the end of placement to provide feedback on experience and provide a detailed report on activities/projects completed.

Other related duties as required.

Relationships

Individuals will be responsible for relationships with VLRC staff clients and community partners

Education and Certifications

  • Be enrolled in degree or diploma studies in related field.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong research analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Professional articulate confident presenter.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Previous experience with vision loss considered an asset.

Work Environment

Must be able to travel to community meetings presentations and appointments.

Must be able to conduct virtual presentations.
