Wellfield Maintenance Tech I
Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports to: Wellfield Superintendent
Position Summary
The Wellfield Maintenance Tech I installs maintains and repairs machinery equipment structures and piping in and around the wellfield The Wellfield Maintenance Tech I is also responsible for safely performing fusion operations as part of a fusing crew ensuring precise assembly and connection of designated materials or components according to operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment used in and around the wellfield.
- Listens for unusual sounds from wellfield machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses operational variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair equipment.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts bearings gears and other machinery components used in the wellfield.
- Installs and repairs broken pipe casing and related wellfield equipment.
- Lays out assembles installs and maintains piping systems and related equipment in and around the wellfield. Repairs and replaces gauges valves pressure regulators and other associated equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structures of the facility.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as drills and other equipment used to repair machinery in and around the wellfield.
- Operates butt-fusing machines used in and around the wellfield.
- Performs fusion operations as part of a fusing crew.
- Safely assembles and connects designated materials or components according to operational specifications.
- Repairs structures used in and around the wellfield.
- Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
- Exposure to extreme heat high humidity direct sunlight and variable weather conditions
- Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) and uranium-bearing solutions in controlled environments
- Remote wellfield locations requiring travel on unpaved roads and uneven terrain
Physical Demands
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending kneeling stooping crouching and climbing ladders or stairways
- Working at heights from ladders platforms or elevated structures
- Lifting and carrying materials tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently (heavier items with assistance)
- Must be able to detect and distinguish equipment and machinery sounds to identify potential malfunctions
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended durations
- Candidates must be able to successfully complete: pre-employment physical examination (if applicable) respirator medical clearance (if required)
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to read and write in the English language
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos in English
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
