Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA youth aged 16-29 through mental health services social programs and housing. WeoperateaYouth Centre offering barrier-free counselling hot meals and community programming and aTransitional Home providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role

AsaDrop-InVolunteer you willbe responsible for:

  • GroceryandHygiene ProductDistribution:
  • Fulfill grocery orders from youth by putting togetherand distributingcustomized bags of groceriesand hygiene products
  • Follow organizational systems for grocery and hygieneproduct distribution keeping track of which orders have been fulfilled and which have yet to be
  • Hand out bags of groceries and hygiene products to youth in the Drop-In
  • Maintainorganizationof the pantry

  • Communicate with Youth Program Workers:
  • Communicateany irregular requests or questions outside of the scope of your role to a Youth Program Worker
  • Update Youth Program Workers about anything in theDrop-In orpertaining toparticipants that is noteworthy needs to be addressed and/or of concern

Qualifications:

  • Identifiesat 2SLGBTQIA
  • Works wellas a member ofateam
  • Able to pack grocery bags
  • Commitment to social justice anti-racism anti-oppression housing first approach harm reduction approach and trauma-informed care

Assets:

  • Knowledge and experience in the sector
  • Personal Health InformationProtectionAct (PHIPA)training
  • De-escalation training
