Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time academic Emergency Trauma Radiologist to join Vancouver Imaging a dynamic group of 40 academic Radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic along with interventional radiologic services to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital in affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC). VGH is the quaternary care center for the Province of British Columbia for thoracic surgery and lung transplantation.
We are seeking an academically oriented Radiologist with a strong interest and experience in teaching and research. A focus on high quality clinical work and service is paramount. The Section operates a high-volume clinical practice involving Emergency Trauma cardiothoracic and abdominal imaging.
As an Academic Diagnostic Emergency Trauma Radiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Work closely with the Divisions of Emergency Medicine General Surgery Trauma Cardiology Stroke Critical Care Gastroenterology Hepatobiliary Urology Nephrology Respirology Thoracic Surgery Cardiac Surgery and Pathology Services along with our other Radiology department subspecialty sections
- Play a key role in training diagnostic radiology residents and medical students who regularly rotate through the section. The Section runs a post graduate fellowship program in Emergency Trauma Radiology with more than 10 Fellows annually.
- Participate and lead multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate with referring services.
- Perform and teach CT guided transthoracic biopsies and pre-operative localizations. The Section performs a robust number of these procedures.
Qualifications
Education Licensing & Experience:
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) Mandatory
- The candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent
- The candidate must have completed fellowship training in both Emergency Trauma Imaging Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging and Body/Abdominal Imaging. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the following clinical services which include 24/7 Emergency/Trauma Cardiothoracic and Abdominal services.
- All applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
- Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of Chest Radiography Thoracic and Cardiac CT and Cardiac and Thoracic MRI. Performing percutaneous interventional procedures (CT guided transthoracic biopsies and preoperative localizations) is a requirement.
- Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of general ultrasound abdominal CT and MRI diagnostic abdominal fluoroscopy and abdominal radiographs. Be proficient in ultrasound and CT-guided biopsy drainage procedures and be familiar with the performance of MR fusion-Ultrasound guided prostate biopsy.
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Work on-site as the primary Radiologist responsible for imaging studies in an Accredited Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department on a 24/7 basis.
- Demonstrated capacity to work efficiently in a high volume and fast paced practice.
- Willingness and capacity to image and interpret all organ systems including neurologic thoracic vascular gastrointestinal genitourinary musculoskeletal gynecologic early obstetric and cross cover other subspeciality sections utilizing different imaging modalities (Radiography Ultrasound CT and MRI).
- Candidates will have expertise in interpretation of Chest Radiography Thoracic and Cardiac CT as well as Cardiac and Thoracic MRI.
- Performing percutaneous interventional procedures (CT guided transthoracic biopsies and preoperative localizations) is a requirement.
- Experience with 3T MRI Advanced MRI US and CT Techniques including MR or US Elastrography and Dual-Energy CT would be a significant advantage including research in these areas
- Ability to interpret full body imaging is a requirement in order to support remote Radiology service across the province of BC.
- Accomplished track record in clinical teaching at the medical student resident and Fellowship level.
- A proven academic track record with an established research portfolio and peer reviewed publications is strongly desirable.
Additional qualities/qualifications include:
- Have experience in all aspects of MRI and CT including body and neuroradiology.
- Have experience in Dual-Energy CT.
- Have experience and in-depth knowledge of contemporary low-dose CT techniques.
- Have experience in working with and developing relationships in industry.
- Have in-depth knowledge of educational and radiological information technology systems.
