Job Summary

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Holland Bloorview) located in Toronto Ontario is the only childrens rehabilitation hospital in Canada focused on combining world-class care transformational research and academic leadership in the field of child and youth rehabilitation and disability. Canadas largest childrens rehabilitation hospital and is home to the Bloorview Research Institute (BRI). Holland Bloorview is a top 40 Canadian research hospital that is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and sees more than 9500 unique clients each year in their inpatient and outpatient programs and services.

The BRI brings together teams of top researchers and trainees from a wide array of disciplines including physicians psychologists allied health professionals engineers neuroscientists sociologists and even urban planners. Together they work collaboratively with the community to co-design and conduct transformative clinically relevant research focused on childhood onset disability injury and developmental diversity.

Established in 2005 the Division of Developmental Paediatrics University of Toronto is situated at Holland Bloorview. Division members are developmental paediatricians paediatricians and child neurologists who work in academic centres and community-based practices across the Greater Toronto Area.

The inpatient rehab unit has 74 beds with 24 beds dedicated to ABI patients. There is a day patient program as well as outpatient clinics and therapy provided by a multidisciplinary team including occupational therapists physiotherapists speech pathologists neuropsychiatrists recreational therapists and registered nurses to name a few.


A new faculty position is available in the Division of Developmental Paediatrics for an Academic Paediatric Clinician Investigator in Acquired Brain Injury.

Candidates must be certified or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Paediatrics (or equivalent). Completion of subspecialty training in Developmental Paediatrics Child Neurology Paediatric Physiatrist or equivalent academic experience is preferred. The successful candidate will have both a clinical research career and clinical experience focused on children and youth with paediatric acquired brain injuries/concussions and will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. This position provides a comprehensive Academic Funding Plan compensation model complete with an attractive salary benefits paid vacation and a very generous pension plan. 50% of salaried time is protected for research with 50% of salaried time for clinical practice. Relocation funding is negotiable.
