Job Summary

The Department of Teacher Education and StFX Online Learning & Professional Studies invites applications for part-time Field Advisors for the following courses:

Course Number and Title: EDUC 471/472/481/482 - Internship

Course Description: Students are placed in schools for five and one-half weeks of supervised practicum.

Delivery Mode: In-person

Duties

The primary role is to support pre-service teachers in their practica which typically spans 5-6 weeks. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Being available both in-person and virtually over the duration of the practicum period (including some weekdays evenings and weekends);
  • Observing students in their practica (involving pre and post conferences) & providing feedback;
  • Working with Associate Teachers and school administration;
  • Attending sessions and workshops;
  • Writing observation summative reports and other reports as applicable;
  • Responding to various circumstances that arise;
  • Travelling to assigned schools;
  • Navigating various technology platforms (such as Microsoft Word Outlook & Teams)

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a PhD or MEd (or equivalent) with extensive teaching experience.
  • Candidates should be leaders in their fields.
