Job Title: Organisational Capability Lead- Submarines

Working location: Raynesway/ Jubilee House Derby

Grade: NGS 8-10

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Organisational Capability Lead to work as a key part of the Nuclear Standards Team within the Safety Security & Licensee Authority (SSLA) function. You will be supporting ONR Licence Condition (LC) Subject Matter Experts (SME) to deliver improve maintain and promote aspects of; Organisational Capability Training & Competence RRSL Management System LC Governance Compliance and Assurance.

The role provides a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with key stakeholders from within the Nuclear Standards Team and across the wider SSLA function whilst building your knowledge and understanding of our nuclear facilities and associated legal obligations to comply with Regulatory licence and permit conditions with good potential to develop and grow into a future management level role.

You will be based in Derby across Jubilee House and Raynesway.

Grade 9-10 applicants are preferred although Grade 8 applicants with sufficient qualification and experience will be considered.

What you will be doing:
Reporting directly to the Organisational Capability Manager you will be primarily supporting all activities relevant to the management arrangements for organisational capability including definition and implementation of the RRSL nuclear baseline and organisational change processes; whilst also providing technical support and assistance to other LC SMEs within the Nuclear Standards Team in delivering their broader responsibilities for training & competency safety management systems governance and assurance.

You will also:

  • Provide technical support and offer specialist advice and guidance across the full scope of organisational capability arrangements to all parts of the Submarines business.

  • Lead by example and set standards and expectations for compliance with organisational capability arrangements across all levels of the business and promote awareness and understanding of key requirements for nuclear safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to organisational capability arrangements and wider framework of nuclear standards processes ensuring consistent alignment with regulatory guidance industry good practice and key stakeholder requirements.

  • Work closely with different business areas and key stakeholders to collaborate on effective ways of working sharing good practice and building skills and knowledge for organisational capability.

  • Support delivery of an effective structure and arrangements for governance of organisational capability and provide suitable scrutiny and challenge in support of nuclear safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and provide analysis of key data. Preparation of reports and dashboards for contribution to both local and wider business governance requirements for nuclear standards.

  • Provide support to the SSLA assurance programme including preparation and delivery of internal audits compliance activities and investigations for the Nuclear Standards Team and maintain specialist input to external audits and regulatory interventions.

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an appropriate technical or business discipline.

  • Proven experience in a related organisational capability domain with good knowledge of change management processes and understanding of derivation and maintenance of nuclear baselines (ideally working on a nuclear licensed site or relevant experience of working within a highly regulated organisation).

  • Knowledge and understanding of regulations standards and guidance relevant to management and control of organisational capability (within the context of nuclear or other high-hazard industry).

  • Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and to influence decision-making at all levels.

  • Excellent written and communication skills. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and attention to detail; inspires others to promote good practice on nuclear standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in using Microsoft Office based applications (e.g. Excel).
