About the Role

This role is for a Deadly Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with the ability to strengthening cultural responsiveness across Goodstart. The First Nations Cultural Delivery Specialist will design coordinate and deliver a range of cultural learning programs aligned with Goodstarts First Nations Employment Strategy.

This role is suited to someone who is passionate about supporting and shaping the workforce to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories and cultures. Through First Nations ways of Knowing Doing and Being you will help guide learning that builds meaningful cultural responsiveness and connection across the organisation.

You will be curious and reflective bringing an open mind to exploring what could be rather than focusing only on what is. Building on the existing work of the First Nations team you will bring lived experience in working with Elders and community.

In this role you will lead the annual planning and delivery of cultural learning programs. This includes developing resources and content facilitating learning sessions and engaging participants in meaningful ways that honour First Nations perspectives and experiences.

Your work will help strengthen cultural capability across Goodstart deepen understanding and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday practice.

Your Impact:

  • Lead and project manage the implementation of Goodstarts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Learning Programs.
  • Continuously refine and enhance program content based on feedback and cultural insights.
  • Plan the annual delivery schedule manage communications and coordinate program logistics.
  • Facilitate cultural learning sessions and promote strong participant engagement.
  • Engage local Elders and communities to ensure programs reflect local cultural context.
  • Contribute cultural expertise to the First Nations Employment Strategy and related diversity initiatives.
  • Manage reporting evaluation documentation and program budgets to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Cultural Liaisons and State Leadership Teams to develop and deliver annual cultural connection activities.
  • Provide cultural expertise and insights to the First Nations Voices group.
  • Generate creative cultural learning ideas to deepen cultural understanding for leaders and teams.
  • Support shared inbox management intranet updates and resource organisation.
  • Develop administrative systems and processes that support the effective operation of the First Nations team.

Essential:

  • You areAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander(identified position).
  • Relevant experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community engagement / Reconciliation / Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment / Human services and lived/living experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing doing being and working.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement Human Resources (L&D) or Early Childhood Education.
  • Tertiary or diploma qualifications or equivalent experience in a related field desirable but not essential
  • 35 years experience in project coordination program delivery or administration.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills including community engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt style for different audiences.
  • High-level organisation time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively manage competing deadlines and maintain cultural integrity in all program activities.
  • Current QLD Working with Children Check
