A leading organisation is searching for a Lease Accountant. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Groups lease accounting function ensuring full compliance with applicable accounting standards company policies and legislative requirements while safeguarding the integrity of the financial reporting process.
Responsibilities:
- The role is responsible for managing and controlling the Groups leased property portfolio and related accounting processes.
- This includes maintaining and enhancing financial reporting systems related to leases preparing monthly management accounts monitoring budgets and variances and ensuring effective internal controls.
- The incumbent will oversee accurate recording of property lease transactions monthly reconciliations IFRS 16 system maintenance lease disclosures for annual financial statements and audit support.
- The position also involves negotiating market-related rentals.
- Protecting the Groups interests in lease agreements.
- Reviewing property market values annually and ensuring effective lease administration.
- Maintaining valid B-BBEE certification levels across the portfolio.
- Leading continuous system and process improvements.
- The successful candidate will provide leadership to subordinates ensuring optimal productivity and achievement of set objectives.
Requirements:
- A Degree in Finance is ESSENTIAL.
- A minimum of five years relevant experience including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven property administration experience is required.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting principles budgeting and cost control financial legislation and lease-related processes.
- Strong leadership time management negotiation and communication skills are critical along with high levels of integrity analytical capability and attention to detail.
