Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Position: To support the finance team through the performance of day-to-day accounting and clerical tasks. This role ensures accurate financial recordkeeping assistance with day-to-day transactions and contributes to the smooth operation of the institutes accounting processes.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
Completed SAIPA articles are an advantage but not a requirement.
Minimum Applicable Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a relevant field.
Key Skills:
Proven knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Familiar with payroll systems and tax regulations.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Good interpersonal skills.
Computer Proficiency:
Above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accountingsoftware (SAGE Accounting and SAGE Payroll).
Willing to constantly acquire new skills and knowledge.
Duties:
Handle day-to-day financial transactions.
Ensure the correct allocation of transactions for reporting purposes.
Process accounts payable and payments.
Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts.
Verify the accuracy of financial documents and resolve inconsistencies.
Assist with the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial reports.
Maintain organised file systems for accounting records.
Support payroll preparation and expense reporting.
Communicate with institutions clients and internal staff on financial matters.
Data entry.
Various administrative responsibilities and general office duties.
Report to the Senior Accountant.
