CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT INTERNSHIP - STEEL FABRICATION
During this internship you will have the opportunity to partner with experienced fabrication shops and leaders to learn the process. After observing and engaging with department team members across a variety of tasks interns will be assigned to a focused project. Learning areas will include:
- Safety and Skills Training - full safety orientation for fabrication shop environments
- Process Mapping - create value stream maps for primary product lines
- Gemba Walks - spend dedicated time on the floor shadowing saw operators fitters and welders
- Data Collection - establish baseline metrics
- Waste Identification and Root Cause - apply lean methodologies to the data gathered
- Improvements and Strategy - propose and test solutions for improvement
REQUIREMENTS
- Rising sophomore junior or senior in an undergraduate program such as Business Industrial Engineering Supply Chain Management or related academic majors
- Strong software skills including Microsoft Office
- Availability for a full-time schedule during the summer season
- Availability for travel to job sites within the region
- Ability to follow safety requirements and uphold Kinsley Steels safety values
