Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) remains the leading cause of maternal mortality in response to Nigerias national PPH manual finalized and disseminated in April 2024 and the WHO Consolidated guidelines for the prevention diagnosis and treatment of postpartum haemorrhage (5 October 2025) the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMoH&SW) will update national guidance and tools to reflect current global recommendations and Nigerias implementation learning. Significant clinical advancements including the E-MOTIVE bundle (Early detection using calibrated drapes Massage Oxytocics Tranexamic Acid IV fluids and Examination) the introduction of Heat-Stable Carbetocin and the expanded use of Tranexamic Acid (TXA) necessitate an immediate update of Nigerias policy addition to global updates the revision will integrate Nigerias implementation learning and best practices (e.g. national and state experience from quality improvement commodity introduction provider training and supervision models and PPH measurement approaches) to strengthen feasibility uptake and scale.
The consultant is expected to deliver the following ready-to-print products within the 3-month period:
Location: Abuja (Embedded within the Federal Ministry of Health)
Duration: 3 Months (10 days per month)
Level of Effort: 30 working days total
