The Opportunity

Regenerative California (RC) is building a new kind of economyone that restores food systems strengthens communities and grows prosperity over time. Our goal is bold: help California become a regenerative economy by 2035 starting with a flagship pilot in Monterey County.

We operate at the intersection of systems change implementation and real-world outcomes. RC is currently focused on three core initiatives:

  • Food Systems - Regenerate 68! Farm (regenerative organic agriculture education demonstration)
  • Housing - Monterey Attainable Housing Initiative (missing-middle workforce housing solutions)
  • Thriving Livelihoods - Future of Blue (working waterfront revitalization marine ecosystem restoration blue economy innovation)

We are seeking an Operations Manager who thrives in a start-up environment and loves building behind-the-scenes systems that allow ambitious work to scale. You will help keep the organization running smoothly support the CEO directly and create the operational structure that enables RCs projects and partnerships to succeed.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized calm under pressure relationship-savvy and energized by the challenge of building systems while the plane is in the air.

Job Summary
The Operations Manager will oversee RCs day-to-day operational functions and serve as the internal hub connecting the CEO project leads contractors fiscal sponsor (Multiplier) and key external partners.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining operational systems across scheduling communication project tracking contractor coordination stakeholder engagement logistics finance and organizational administration. You will also provide high-level project management support to RCs three core initiatives by helping track deliverables manage workflows and ensure alignment across the organization.

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in keeping RC organized responsive and execution-ready.

Primary Responsibilities


1. Organizational Operations & Internal Systems
  • Manage RCs internal operating rhythm including weekly team meetings monthly check-ins and cross-project coordination.
  • Manage organizational scheduling across the CEO
  • Maintain a clean and functional operational system for tracking priorities deadlines and deliverables across the organization
  • Organize and maintain RCs file system shared drive templates and operational documents.
  • Ensure internal clarity across who is doing what by when and what decisions are needed from leadership.
Success looks like: team members know priorities meetings are productive and deliverables dont fall through cracks.

2. Project Coordination & Deliverable Tracking (Farm Housing Future of Blue)
  • Support high-level coordination across RCs three core initiatives by tracking workplans deliverables and upcoming milestones.
  • Liaise regularly with the Farm Manager Housing Sprint Lead(s) and Future of Blue leadership to ensure alignment with CEO priorities.
  • Develop simple systems to track project progress upcoming needs and operational bottlenecks.
  • Ensure project-related meetings have agendas clear next steps and follow-up notes.
Success looks like: RCs projects stay organized and coordinated even as timelines shift and new opportunities emerge.

3. CEO Support & Executive Coordination
  • Work side-by-side with the CEO to manage daily operations and prioritize key tasks.
  • Coordinate the CEOs calendar including internal meetings external stakeholder calls partner engagement funder meetings and events.
  • Prepare meeting agendas briefing notes and background context for priority calls.
  • Capture action items and ensure follow-up occurs after key meetings.
Success looks like: CEO time is protected meetings are purposeful and follow-through is consistent.

4. Contractor & Team Management
  • Serve as the operational point-person for RCs contractor team (communications fundraising support project consultants program staff etc.).
  • Coordinate weekly contractor check-ins and monthly coordination meetings.
  • Track contractor scopes of work deliverables deadlines and invoices.
  • Create visibility across contractors so workstreams align and communication flows smoothly.
Success looks like: contractors feel supported deliverables are clear and RC runs like a coordinated team.

5. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Support RCs stakeholder engagement per the direction of the CEO by coordinating outreach scheduling meetings and tracking relationship touchpoints.
  • Help manage communications and logistics for communications activities
  • Support planning and execution of convenings forums workshops site visits and public-facing events.
  • Draft and send follow-up emails meeting confirmations and basic stakeholder communications on behalf of RC leadership.
Success looks like: partners feel cared for meetings happen efficiently and RC is seen as organized and professional.

6. Fundraising Support & Relationship Tracking
  • Maintain and update RCs CRM/contact database (funders partners donors advisors public officials).
  • Track relationship touchpoints meeting notes follow-ups and next steps.
  • Support fundraising logistics such as scheduling donor calls organizing briefing materials managing event invites and tracking funder deliverables.
  • Assist with grant reporting timelines and document coordination as needed
Success looks like: RC has clean records strong follow-through and organized fundraising operations.

7. Fiscal Sponsorship & Finance Operations (Multiplier)
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Multiplier (fiscal sponsor) for operational coordination.
  • Track invoices contractor payments reimbursements and monthly expense reconciliation.
  • Support CEO in maintaining budget visibility and tracking organizational expenses.
  • Assist in compiling basic financial reports and operational summaries for leadership.
Success looks like: reimbursements are timely invoices dont pile up and leadership has clear financial visibility.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of operational excellence people skills and comfort with ambiguity.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 3 years experience in operations program management executive support or project coordination (nonprofit social enterprise government consulting or entrepreneurial setting).
  • Proven ability to build systems from scratch and improve existing workflows.
  • Strong project management skills: ability to track tasks timelines and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational instincts attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfort managing scheduling and logistics across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead with professionalism warmth and clarity in a relationship-based organization.
  • Ability to work independently anticipate needs and solve problems proactively.

  • RCs files contacts and documentation are clean and easy to access.
  • Stakeholder engagement follow-up is consistent and professional.
  • Multiplier systems (invoices reimbursements expense tracking) are organized and reliable.


Workplace Compensation & Application


Compensation: $80000/year
