This position is responsible for coordinating the care of patients for a designated service throughout the continuum of care; acts as liaison by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources; preforms clinic duties such as maintaining charts scheduling tests preparing exam rooms rooming patients and making return appointments.
Job Responsibilities
The CMA/Scheduler II will be working in a Multi-Specialty Practice: Neurology - Epilepsy Stroke and Rheumatology clinics. He/she is responsible for rooming patients lab blood draws returning phone calls scheduling patient appointments and other necessary tasks that facilitate efficient flow of clinic operations and communication among the Physicians the patient/patient families and clinic. He/she will help each physician with all aspects of the patients health.

Acts as liaison by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources
Coordinates patient care with responsibilities including fielding phone calls communicating test results prescription refill requests physician communications and scheduling of appointments completing patient referrals and authorizations for elective procedures
Demonstrates a high commitment to excellence in service and quality through interactions with team members with faculty staff referring physicians patients and their families while focusing on service culture and continuously striving to align with the BMG mission and vision
Prepares and maintains exam rooms patient charts reports and records; assists with patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office
Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting and completes clinical tasks which may include obtaining vital signs conducting EKGs completing a phlebotomy and verifying medications
Prepares for office hours by doing tasks such as obtaining charts scheduling tests and preparing exam rooms
May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing orders and department guidelines
May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner (this includes vaccines and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections)
Directs patient flow assists with special procedures/treatments and completes requisitions
Routes phone messages patient questions and telephone communications to appropriate personnel
Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner
Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding treatments diagnosis and procedures Monitors supply inventory ensuring adequate supplies equipment or garments are available and that they comply with regulations
Maintains required HIPAA compliance maintains skills/competencies and participates in in-services staff programs continuing education and cross-training programs.
Complies with OSHA state and federal regulatory sources/standards
Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or nursing school
Minimum Experience
Two or more years of Medical Assistant experience
Training
Minimum Required
- Approved nursing or medical assistant course

Special Skills
Minimum Required
- Computer literacy. Maintain Certification
Preferred/Desired
Licensure
