Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officerto join our global team.

Team and Job Purpose

Save the Children Europes purpose is to ensure that EU policies and funding have a lasting and positive impact on childrens lives by influencing decisionmaking in Brussels. It focuses on fighting child poverty protecting children in conflict and migration and securing investment in health and education across Europe and beyond. The team brings together advocacy and donorrelations expertise to break cycles of poverty and inequality while amplifying childrens voices in decisions that shape their futures.

Role purpose

The Communications Officer will support Save the Children Europes strategic communications by strengthening media digital and internal communications that advance childrens rights within EU policies and funding frameworks. Working closely with the Advocacy Team and the Head of Office the role will contribute to positioning Save the Children as a credible and influential voice on EU priorities with a particular focus on the EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

The post holder will lead onday-to-daymedia and social media activities produce engaging andchild centredcontent and ensure consistent messaging across external and internal channels. The Communications Officer will also play a key role in internal communications including newsletters and staff updates supportinginformation sharingand coherence across the organisation.

In some instances the role will involve working directly with children and young people to support meaningful ethical participation in communications activities ensuring their voices are represented safely accurately and in line with child safeguarding standards.

This role is ideal for someone early in their communications career who is eager to learn write compelling content manage digital channels and help strengthen the organisations brand and reputation.

Principal Accountabilities

Content Creation & Editorial Support

  • Draft clear engaging content for newsletters social media websites and press materials.
  • Assistin preparing blog posts and internal announcements.
  • Proofread and edit materials to ensure accuracy consistency and alignment with brand tone.
  • Assist advocacy and programming colleagues with their media plans.
  • Liaise internally ensuring the distribution of relevant global media moments.

Digital & Social Media

  • Advise and propose social media engagement opportunities
  • Support the management of social media channels (content scheduling basic analytics community engagement).
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to digital insights reports.

Internal Communications

  • Assistin preparing internal updates staff newsletters and intranet content.
  • Support the planning and delivery of campaigns and communication projects.
  • Support logisticsfor events photoshoots and stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintaincommunicationsdatabases assetlibraries and documentation.

Media & Public Relations

  • Lead on developing the database of stakeholders and updating contactlists.
  • Helpprepare press releases media kits and event materials.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  1. Previous experiencein communications PR marketing orjournalism-preferablyin a non-profit or advocacy setting
  2. Excellent communication skills both written and oral including the ability to communicate to people ofdifferent culturalbackgrounds.
  3. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
  4. Knowledge of social media management and graphic design / video editing tools. (CMS tools Adobe packageCanva)Aproactive collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
  5. Enthusiastic proactive with a can interest in development issues and childrens rights.
  6. Enthusiasm for new and emerging digital trends is an asset.
  7. Commitment to Save the Childrens values and mission.

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of media relations or digital communications.
  • Good command of French and/or Dutch
