Job Summary
We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering initiatives in the Industrial and Smart Buildings domain leveraging Generative AI (Gen AI) to deliver innovative scalable and sustainable solutions. This role requires strong leadership technical expertise and a passion for applying AI to real-world industrial challenges.
Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment and Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to align the data engineering roadmap with core business objectives such as optimizing energy use in smart buildings or enhancing manufacturing productivity. This includes collaborating with data scientists analysts and domain experts (e.g. in building management or industrial operations) to translate complex business needs into scalable data solutions.
Data Architecture and Infrastructure Design: Oversee the design construction and maintenance of robust scalable data architectures (data warehouses data lakes and lakehouses) capable of handling massive volumes of both structured and unstructured data from IoT devices sensors and enterprise systems (e.g. SAP CRM) prevalent in the industrial and buildings sectors.
Data Pipeline Development and Management: Lead the development and optimization of efficient and reliable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for data ingestion transformation and delivery ensuring low latency for real-time analytics and GenAI applications. This includes managing real-time data streams from building sensors or factory floor machinery using technologies like Apache Kafka or Spark.
Data Quality Governance and Security: Ensure high data quality and integrity through automated validation and cleansing processes which is critical for the reliability of AI models in high-stakes environments like industrial operations. Implement strong data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR CCPA) and manage the risks associated with GenAI such as data hallucinations or security vulnerabilities.
Team Leadership and Mentorship: Manage mentor and coach a team of data engineers fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. This includes ensuring the team stays updated with the latest advancements in GenAI techniques and data engineering best practices.
Performance Optimization and Monitoring: Oversee the monitoring and performance tuning of data systems and pipelines ensuring efficiency reliability and cost-effectiveness. This involves identifying bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions potentially using containerization and cloud-native services.
Qualifications
Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science Data Engineering or related field.
8 years in data engineering 3 years in leadership roles.
Expertise in Big Data (Spark Kafka Hadoop).
Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
SQL/NoSQL databases.
Experience with IoT data and industrial protocols.
Familiarity with Gen AI frameworks (OpenAI Hugging Face LangChain).
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of energy optimization and smart building technologies.
Experience with visualization tools (Power BI Tableau).
Understanding of data privacy and cybersecurity best practices.
