As an Engineering Manager at QAD you will lead an agile engineering team responsible for designing building and delivering highquality software. You will combine handson technical understanding with people leadership helping engineers do their best work while delivering meaningful business outcomes.
Active use of AI-native development workflows Cursor Claude Code and CodeRabbit or equivalent is a baseline requirement not a nice-to-have. We treat AI augmentation as the standard engineering operating model. Leaders are expected to use these tools personally set norms for their teams and demonstrate that AI tooling raises the output of their entire squad. Candidates who view AI tools as optional or experimental are not the right fit for this organization.
The Mission: What Youll Be Building
You will guide a team building features and services across QADs adaptive cloudnative platform contributing directly to customerfacing capabilities and platform foundations.
Lead for the squad owning API Gateway authentication and the agent-to-tool interface layer.
Your Impact/ What you will be doing:
Deliver AuthN/AuthZ service OAuth2/OIDC implementation rate limiting and load balancing
Build the MCP Gateway that enables ERA agents to interface with ERP systems and external tools
Own service mesh configuration (Istio or equivalent) and platform on-call reliability
Manage a squad of 6 engineers including 1 P6 Principal Platform Engineer
Qualifications :
What we are looking for
6 years in platform or backend engineering with at least 2 years managing a squad
Expert in API Gateway design multi-tenant authentication and OAuth2/OIDC patterns
AWS/Terraform proficiency can review infrastructure code and challenge architecture decisions
Technically credible to a P6 Principal: you review their designs challenge assumptions earn respect
Experience with AI tool-use interfaces or MCP protocol
OpenTelemetry instrumentation and observability stack experience
