Job Description:
Install configure and upgrade MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) on Windows platforms
Perform routine DBA activities including health checks monitoring and housekeeping
Manage SQL Server instances databases jobs linked servers and configurations
Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks
Analyze wait statistics blocking deadlocks and query performance
Implement index maintenance statistics updates and capacity planning
Support performance tuning in coordination with application teams
Design and manage backup and recovery strategies (Full Diff Log backups)
Perform database restores and point-in-time recovery as needed
Support DR setups (Log Shipping Failover Cluster Always On Availability Groups exposure preferred)
Participate in DR drills and audits
Manage logins users roles and permissions
Implement security best practices including encryption password policies and auditing
Support quarterly access reviews and compliance requirements
Configure and manage monitoring tools (SQL Agent jobs alerts third-party tools)
Automate routine DBA tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell
Reduce manual effort through scripting and standardization
Apply SQL Server and Windows patching in line with change management processes
Plan and execute maintenance activities with minimal downtime
Maintain documentation and SOPs for DBA processes
Provide L2/L3 production support for SQL Server issues
Troubleshoot incidents related to availability performance and data integrity
Work in shift-based or on-call support models as required
Strong experience with MS SQL Server architecture and internals
Proficiency in T-SQL for troubleshooting and analysis
Hands-on experience with:
Backup & recovery strategies
SQL Server Agent jobs
Performance monitoring and tuning
Security and access management
Working knowledge of Windows Server and basic OS-level troubleshooting
Exposure to Always On Availability Groups / Failover Clustering
Experience with PowerShell automation
Knowledge of cloud SQL platforms (Azure SQL / Managed Instance)
Familiarity with ITIL processes and audit compliance
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Clear communication with application infra and security teams
Documentation and process-oriented mindset
Willingness to work in rotational shifts / on-call support
Experience supporting 247 production environments is preferred
