A dynamic and ambitious secondary school in Chelmsford is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join its thriving Technology department. This is an exciting opportunity to empower students with the technical knowledge creativity and resilience needed to succeed in an ever-evolving world.

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 where applicable). You will teach a broad and engaging curriculum which may include areas such as Product Design Resistant Materials Graphics Engineering or Food Technology depending on your specialism.

Working collaboratively within the department you will contribute to curriculum development enrichment opportunities and the continued growth of practical and technical excellence across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Design & Technology lessons aligned with national curriculum and GCSE specifications

  • Develop students practical skills technical knowledge and understanding of the design process

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE coursework and examinations ensuring strong progress and attainment

  • Maintain a safe and well-organised workshop/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations

  • Assess track and report on student progress effectively

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental improvement

  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and classroom management

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Design & Technology at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Strong subject knowledge in at least one specialist area within DT

  • Practical expertise and confidence in managing workshop-based learning

  • Excellent organisational and classroom management skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

  • Legal right to work in the UK
