Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall executive leadership and management of the organisation with full accountability for operational financial and commercial performance
- Develop implement and execute the organisations strategic plan in alignment with objectives approved by the Board of Directors
- Translate Board-approved strategies into clear actionable business plans budgets and operational targets
- Identify organisational strengths weaknesses risks and opportunities to drive sustainable growth and profitability
- Provide strategic recommendations and performance updates to the Board including corrective actions where required
- Drive revenue growth through the development and execution of sales marketing and business development strategies
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities channels partnerships and revenue streams
- Oversee sales performance across all channels ensuring alignment with forecasts budgets and growth targets
- Ensure effective demand planning forecasting and performance tracking against agreed objectives
- Lead and manage senior leadership and management teams to ensure accountability performance and engagement
- Oversee recruitment workforce planning succession planning and talent development across the organisation
- Drive the performance management process including goal setting performance reviews coaching and disciplinary action where required
- Propose remuneration structures salary adjustments and incentive plans to the Board for approval
- Ensure company policies procedures and codes of conduct are communicated implemented and consistently enforced
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability collaboration continuous improvement and ethical leadership
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with finance leadership including operating costs capital expenditure and cash flow
- Monitor financial performance through management accounts variance analysis margin control and profitability metrics
- Review and propose pricing strategies cost controls and commercial terms to improve profitability
- Oversee supplier negotiations and management of key service providers to ensure cost efficiency and service quality
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal regulatory governance and statutory requirements in South Africa
- Oversee audit preparation financial controls and risk management processes
- Ensure effective operational performance across supply chain logistics inventory management and customer service
- Monitor and improve key operational indicators such as service levels stock availability productivity efficiency and cost control
- Ensure systems processes and infrastructure support scalability efficiency and operational excellence
- Lead change management initiatives aligned to business strategy and organisational needs
- Ensure accurate timely and transparent reporting to the Board and key stakeholders
- Attend and contribute to Board meetings executive reviews and senior management forums
- Promote and enforce occupational health and safety standards in line with legislative requirements
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures quality standards and internal controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all departments and functions
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration Commerce Management Finance or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or equivalent senior management qualification advantageous
- Minimum of 7 years proven experience in a senior executive or general management role
- Approximately 10 years experience within sales distribution commercial or operational leadership environments
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-functional teams and complex organisational structures
- Strong background in strategic planning business execution and performance management
- Sound understanding of corporate governance principles and senior management best practices
- Solid knowledge of South African labour legislation commercial law and regulatory compliance
- Industry experience within consumer retail distribution or brand-driven environments advantageous
