Job Summary

Duties And Responsibilities
Own the process promotion of and course responsibilities for Career Education (CE) internships and other academic departments internship courses and requirements. Keep current on best practices regarding the assessment of internship experience of students and continuously refine the reflective assignments and evaluations related to academic internship courses through data collection and analysis. Partner with the faculty director of Onward to develop and administer a system to collect internship data from across the institution. Identify and develop new opportunities for short-term or project-based experiential learning. Conduct internship site visits as needed to develop employer relationships and evaluate the quality of experience. Collaborate with the Career Services Employer Relations Team for employer outreach and internship development. Meet individually with students and alumni for career coaching on a variety of career development topics. Teach Career Education courses as needed. Develop and administer the process and awards for the Belda Fund Lavelle Scholarship and other scholarships. Collaborate with campus departments regarding awarding of academic credit and administering financial awards including but not limited to working with faculty financial aid Global Education and the business office. Assist Colleges and career advisors with professional development programming career fairs and other events. Serve on university committees related to experiential education. Respond to requests for information regarding internships from faculty the campus community and other constituents. Utilize and become familiar with all available means of technology to ensure effective delivery of services including Handshake Slate Canvas and other tools. Manage reciprocity requests for students seeking to utilize career services centers at participating Jesuit universities in the United States or students seeking services from John Carroll. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree. 3 5 years of related experience preferably in career services human resources or related higher education office. Polished teaching and/or presenting skills preferably on career development topics. Experience with individual client appointments (exhibited through counseling coaching or similar experience). Must possess a professional demeanor with strong organization and communication skills. Ability to work independently overseeing multiple tasks with attention to detail. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the changes common to career development with a college population. Beginner skill level in Excel or Google Sheets and willingness and ability to learn more advanced features. Interest in understanding and supporting John Carrolls mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning leadership and service in the region and in the world.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in related field. Database management and/or career services-related software. Experience working with employers academic and/or programmatic partners. An understanding of the relationship between career development and the Jesuit. mission of John Carroll University with the ability to articulate the benefit of the relationship to employers. Knowledge of career trends especially as they relate to traditional college-aged students. Working knowledge of employment trends locally nationally and globally. Intermediate skill level in Excel or Google Sheets.
