Circle Green Community Legal (Circle Green) is a community legal centre providing humanitarian tenancy workplace and family and domestic violence legal advice further assistance representation advocacy community legal education referrals outreach and support.

Accessible Justice. To create a system place and space to ensure a safety net of best practice legal advice education and advocacy in our specialist fields.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Payroll Officer supports the delivery of accurate compliant and timely payroll. This role is responsible for ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time and financial processes support strong governance and reporting. It plays a key part in supporting financial integrity and workforce wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing end-to-end fortnightly payroll for a medium-sized workforce ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation and the Social and Community Services Award.
  • Managing timesheets leave salary packaging and payroll adjustments
  • Ensuring accurate calculation of wages allowances and superannuation
  • Manage payroll inbox and responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Maintaining payroll records and employee data
  • Liaise with HR to ensure timely processing of onboarding terminations contract variations and other payroll changes.
  • Supporting payroll reporting and reconciliations
  • Assisting with general payroll administration tasks
  • Support the data transition between the payroll systems if required.
  • Update the payroll system to reflect regulatory changes including Fair Work updates.

ABOUT YOU

Skills and Attributes

  • High level of attention to detail with strong numerical accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain financial and payroll matters clearly.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks manage deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive payroll information.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support team and organisational priorities.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing preferably using Employment Hero and Xero.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements including STP superannuation and PAYG withholding.

Desirable

  • Certificate or Diploma in bookkeeping payroll finance or accounting.
  • Familiarity with the Social and Community Services Award or similar industrial instruments.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit legal or community services environment.
