Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all exterior areas including the facilitys external perimeter on a daily basis. Personnel may also be assigned to interior areas of the convention center as operational needs require and are expected to support overall facility cleanliness wherever needed. Team members may be trained to operate equipment used in the maintenance of convention facilities including forklifts compactors and other related equipment. Work hours and shifts vary based on event-related activity and operational demands.

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00-$16.00

About the Venue

ThePalm Beach County Convention Center is a multi-purpose facility in West Palm Beach Florida managed by Oak View Center features a 100000 square-foot exhibit hall a 22000 square-foot ballroom and 21000 square feet of flexible meeting space as well as connecting to the 400-room Hilton West Palm Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Entrances Maintenance: Regularly maintain exterior entrances of the convention center including window and glass cleaning to ensure all areas are clean safe and presentable. Duties include sweeping washing and removing debris.
  • Debris Removal: Proactively remove litter palm fronds and other debris from all exterior areas including entrances roadways driveways surface lots dock areas campus exterior walls and landscaped spaces.
  • Pressure Washing: Operate pressure-washing equipment to clean walkways outdoor seating areas and other exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Outdoor Event Area Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep of outdoor event areas ensuring they are clean organized and event-ready.
  • General Upkeep: Perform routine inspections of facility areas and report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with housekeeping maintenance staff and event coordinators to ensure all facility areasboth interior and exteriorare prepared for events and daily operations.
  • Training & Equipment Use: Participate in training for the safe operation of maintenance carts lifts ladders and other equipment as required.
  • Additional Duties: Employees may be assigned to perform housekeeping or maintenance tasks inside the convention center as operational needs require. Job responsibilities are not limited to a single area and may change based on event schedules and facility demands.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in maintenance or landscaping is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate pressure washing equipment and other maintenance tools safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate varying event needs.
