Data Center Technician
22001 Loudoun County Pkwy Ashburn VA 20147 - onsite
3 Months
Pay rate: $25 - $30/hr on W2
Position Overview:
Equipment & Rack Removal
Uninstall lab equipment from test bays and staging areas
Unbolt and dismantle 2-post and 4-post racks
Assist with removing cabinets and preparing equipment for internal disposal workflows
Cable Mining and Subfloor Cleanup
Identify and remove unused/abandoned cabling from the raised floor (plenum) space
Trace disconnected cable runs as far as practical (i.e. until an obstruction is met or until the cable enters a live cabinet) and remove safely
Work row-by-row through the lab environment to systematically clean sections
Separate inactive cabling from live cabling without disrupting active systems
Asset Handling and Documentation Support
Place decommissioned equipment onto pallets for client internal asset disposal process
Assist with basic tracking of serial numbers where required (minimal scanning/accounting)- Target up to 100 assets per
month at a minimum.
Remove unused or marked for removal peripheral equipment from the Lab floor space and store it on pallets.
Remove Cardboard boxes off the Lab floor space.
Documenting of before and after of clean up areas with pictures and in written documentation format.
Documenting of assets that are going to be disposed.
General Site Support
Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the decommissioning process
Follow the on-site safety and lab access protocols
Work through all Jira ticket assignments and follow-up with Lead upon completion or issues.
Additional Support
provide client with artifacts (i.e. all items to be removed such as loose fibers cables packaging screens etc.) of any triage efforts vendor engagements or escalations through the appropriate tracking and ticketing systems.
provide client with artifacts related to the lab test bed inventories in the appropriate inventory - will document & inventory items being decommissioned.
document/work Tickets in Jira Ticketing system.
properly place decommissioned items onto designated pallets for Asset Disposition.
properly mine cables/removals from under the lab floor space and clean up.
