Location/Division Specific Information

This position is based in Austin TX and will support to the Genetic Sciences team.

Discover Impactful Work:

In this role youll make meaningful contributions to products that help make the world healthier cleaner and this role youll perform formulation and manufacturing activities in a GMP/ISO-regulated environment working with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.

A Day in the Life:

  • Formulate buffers and other reagents for biotech applications at 100 µL to 2000 L scale in a clean manufacturing environment

  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation wearing appropriate PPE including face mask lab coat and gloves.

  • Isolate and dilute nucleic acids in a manufacturing environment including RNA and DNA using pipetting and spectrophotometric techniques.

  • Perform quality control testing on buffers and nucleic acids including pH conductivity agarose gels and nucleic acid purification using magnetic beads and quantification by qPCR.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality control activities and record results in technical reports.

  • Revise and edit existing manufacturing protocols; participate in the development of manufacturing protocols for new products.

  • Manage manufacturing metrics aimed at process control and productivity savings.

  • Prioritize and schedule work to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Accurately and optimally manage inventory.

  • Work collaboratively with peers from your own and other groups.

  • Train co-workers in the proper use of instrumentation manufacturing processes and manufacturing software.

  • Adhere to ISO guidelines USDA regulations and Thermo Fisher Scientific quality policy.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success

Education

  • Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Biochemistry or related field.

Experience

  • 0-2 of related post-undergraduate experience preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability in operating troubleshooting and maintaining complex laboratory equipment

  • Detailed understanding of chemical interaction necessary for PCR systems including interactions of nucleotides enzymes oligos and buffers (pH ionic concentration).

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques including experimental design and statistical quality control.
