Role Definition:

  • Drivetrain makes progress possible by delivering power from the engine to the ground. Drivetrain components are used at 25 Prime Products facilities around the world manufactured at 18 Caterpillar facilities and procured from over 1000 global suppliers.
  • The Drivetrain Engineered Value Chain team work to improve the availability of Drivetrain components enabling increased machine sales. They focus on developing optimizing and managing the chain not each link individually.
  • The Analytics Manager will lead the team of Data Specialists and Data Scientists developing tools and advanced analytics needed to solve the challenges in the complex Drivetrain business. The Analytics Manager will keep the DT analytics team aligned with cutting edge technologies including cloud infrastructure and corporate AI initiatives to stay current with industry technology and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of Data Specialists and Data Scientists to drive data-driven decision-making translating complex data into actionable business insights
  • Guiding the team in implementing protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency in data pipelines
  • Translates business/department vision into specific projects
  • Ensuring project expectations and results are achieved and communicated to project owners/leadership on regular intervals
  • Establishing monitoring and communicating key performance metrics for the data projects/data team

Required Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of data modelling data mining and statistical techniques
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Python Pyspark/R and data visualization tools like Tableau Power BI
  • Overall 11 yrs of experience in Analytics/Data Specialist
  • Project management/ Scrum master experience for handling project timelines
  • Able to apply the statistical knowledge for solving the business problems
  • Knowledge of Snowflake architecture (recommended)

Education: Bachelors in Engineering from a Tier 1 University/College.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Evaluates best practices of emerging information technologies to learn and understand principles and applications.

Guides junior-level staff on the effective implementation of new information technologies within the organization.

Determines long-term strategic requirements for the design of information technologies.

Monitors information technology users to ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Resolves all technical and administrative problems that occur in the design application and evaluation of information technology.

Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop implement and deliver related systems products and services.

Level Working Knowledge:

Completes specific tasks and initiatives utilizing machine learning technologies such as search engine optimization.

Utilizes specific tools and techniques to process descriptive and inferential statistics.

Applies specific computing languages and tools in machine learning such as R and Python.

Explores to use machine learning in one own areas to make business improvements.

Conducts data mining and cleaning initiatives.
