SUMMARY
This position located within the Communications & Outreach Division of Animal Care & Control supports team members with communications fundraising and public outreach initiatives. The Communications Specialist will assist in developing digital content coordinate fundraising and other special events and promote ACCs mission through creative storytelling and community engagement. The role requires writing and design skills digital marketing experience and the ability to work with animals in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Some evening and weekend work is required based on event schedules.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the creation of content for CMACCs website social media platforms and email marketing campaigns to aid with special projects including items such as flyers graphics for website and social media use and infographics for use at community events.
Assist in the design of promotional materials for events fundraising and outreach using graphic design tools such as Canva Adobe Creative Suite etc.
Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and special events
Use templates/approved language to aid in pushing out press releases media advisories and promotional materials as needed to support the Communications/Outreach Manager and ACC Director.
Represent CMACC at community events and outreach activities as needed based on staffing levels.
Assist with the tracking of marketing and development campaign performance using industry best practices.
Support logistics for events and campaigns including timelines budgets and vendor relations in collaboration with the Communications & Outreach Manager and ACC Business Services Supervisor.
Support other roles within the Communications & Outreach Division. Will be responsible for providing backup coverage for Communication & Outreach positions in conjunction with the Communications & Outreach Manager.
Assist with animal-related content creation and promotion
Work comfortably around dogs cats and pocket pets in shelter and event settings
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong writing editing and storytelling skills
Ability to learn graphic design software (e.g. Canva Adobe Creative Suite)
Knowledge of social media management tools and email marketing platforms
Ability to learn digital marketing strategies and analytics
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to assist with managing projects independently and collaboratively
Ability to learn the principles and methods for promoting and selling services including marketing strategy and donor engagement
Ability to work effectively with diverse communities; bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Comfortable working with animals in various environments
Exercise good judgment and self-control during stressful situations and peak workload periods
Understand and follow through on both oral and written instructions
Preferred Qualifications: Spanish/English preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher in Communications Marketing Public Relations Graphic Design or related field or an equivalent combination of education experience and skills to perform the essential duties of the position. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in communications digital marketing fundraising event planning or related field.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed mainly in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions and frequent exposure to computer screens files and phones. Occasional work in shelter and indoor and outdoor event settings with animals is required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
