Regular Full-Time

Salary Range: Non union Band J $117464 per annum -$146830 per annumplus comprehensive benefits

Hiring Range: $117464 per annum-$132147 per annum

Work mode: Hybrid; 2 Onsite days per week which can increase based on operational needs (see below for more details about this work mode)

Reporting to: Program Manager Water and Wastewater Condition Assessment and Rehabilitation


What you will do in the role:

  • Management of various large complex Capital projects that involve condition assessment and rehabilitation of water transmission mains trunk sewers forcemains and associated appurtenances.
  • Managing the selection and procurement process for major equipment and assessment of new technologies.
  • Preparing and tendering requests for proposals including defining the scope of work and terms of reference for the condition assessment and rehabilitation of the water or wastewater system
  • Leading Value Engineering assignments when peer review is required to ensure constructabilityand value
  • Controlling project budgets schedules monitoring and reporting on the same
  • Liaising with other departments divisions and sections within the Region as well as with Regional Councillors external agencies municipalities and the public
  • Negotiating and securing approval from the environmental agencies including CVC TRCA MNR NEC DFO MECP
  • Negotiate project changes in scope and related extras to minimize Peels financial risk while maintaining the quality and schedule of the project
  • Leading project teams which are also resourced with full-time on-site consultants
  • Directs/manages staff related to the administration of contracts
  • Provides budget estimates and project scheduling for recommended infrastructure requirements in the Capital Budget and forecasted Master Plan
  • Works with manufacturers and operations staff in determining future operational cost impacts
  • Ensures capital projects are well thought through to ensure risk is minimized to existing infrastructure and treatment processes
  • Leads the development of CPMM documents and ensures projects are monitored and completed using this methodology
  • Identifies and initiates new business requirements to improve current practices and better assess infrastructure needs
  • Maintains education on emerging technologies and changing regulations

What the role requires:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus a minimum of 5 years of direct work experience assessing planning designing and/or completing municipal infrastructure projects including trunksewers and large diameter water transmission mains; A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • or CET designation considered an asset
  • Management skills to coordinate multiple budgets vendors and contractors
  • Solid understanding of water and wastewater systems with experience in SCADA Electrical Mechanical and Civil Engineering related to major water/wastewater infrastructure considered an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to utilize project management software
  • Thorough knowledge of design practices standards codes and industry related legislation
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion through continuous development modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias

  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Facilitation experience with a skill setto lead engaging presentations

Work Mode & Job Location:
In this role youll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means youll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive Brampton ONworksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week depending on operational demands which can evolve over time.

Its important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that were compliant with all regulations and policies.
