Job Summary

  • Develop and implement mine plans schedules and production forecasts in alignment with geological models and resource estimates.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor mining activities ensure compliance with safety standards and identify operational inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with geologists metallurgists and environmental specialists to optimize extraction methods and improve recovery rates.
  • Perform detailed technical analyses of mine design slope stability and ground control to ensure operational safety and structural integrity.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate mine documentation including block models grade control reports and production reconciliation data.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineering staff promoting a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international mining regulations environmental standards and corporate safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with equipment and maintenance teams to maximize equipment utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in feasibility studies reserve estimation and capital investment evaluations.
  • Utilize industry-standard software (e.g. Surpac Vulcan AutoCAD or similar) for mine planning and data analysis.


Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • 25 years of progressive experience in mining operations preferably in open-pit or underground mining environments.
  • Proven experience in mine planning production scheduling and grade control.
  • Strong understanding of mine safety regulations environmental compliance and sustainable mining practices.
  • Proficiency in mine planning and geospatial software (e.g. Surpac Vulcan Datamine AutoCAD).
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams under challenging field conditions.
  • Willingness to work in a remote mining site in Mutare Zimbabwe with occasional travel and shift work.
  • Valid drivers license and physical fitness to perform site duties.
