What will you do
The Community and Volunteer Engagement Manager is directly responsible for coordinating peer support delivery within programs and leading volunteer engagement across Prospect. Working closely with Program Managers this role ensures peer support and volunteer practices reflect lived experience values psychological safety program needs and Prospects mission.
Alongside handsâon operational work the role leads Prospects stakeholder engagement approach stewarding relationships with Society Members Board Members volunteers peer networks employers and community partners while creating pathways for deeper involvement.
This position requires the ability to balance operational delivery with strategic leadership. As the function evolves the role will provide direct leadership to staff supporting stakeholder engagement volunteer coordination and peer support delivery.
Strategic Leadership
- Lead Prospects overall approach to Society Member engagement ensuring work with volunteers donors board members and community partners is aligned and effective.
- Hold organizational accountability for sustaining and growing society membership and for the health of related stakeholder relationships.
- Set direction for communication stewardship and participation within Society Membership and advise leaders on relationship building practices that reflect Prospects mission and values.
- Ensure Salesforce is used effectively to support accurate data meaningful analysis and reliable reporting across stakeholder groups.
- Provide leadership and performance support to staff as assigned and contribute to workforce planning for stakeholder engagement volunteer and peer support functions.
Volunteer Program Oversight
- Lead Prospects volunteer program with accountability for recruitment onboarding support and overall quality of the volunteer experience.
- Ensure volunteer practices are aligned with Prospects broader engagement approach and contribute meaningfully to programs Society Membership and community impact.
- Use Salesforce to track volunteer activity monitor engagement and support clear reporting and insight into outcomes.
- Provide regular reporting on volunteer participation and program contribution and oversee volunteer recognition and engagement initiatives.
Peer Support Delivery
- Coordinate and support the day-to-day delivery of peer support across programs in close partnership with Program Managers ensuring capacity and coverage align with program needs.
- Ensure peer support practices reflect ethical boundaries confidentiality expectations psychological safety and lived experience values and support consistency and quality across locations.
- Maintain clear communication between peer support volunteers program teams and Program Managers and contribute to continuous improvement in peer support delivery.
Stakeholder and Community Relationships
- Serve as the primary relationship holder for Society Members supporting engagement that is meaningful well informed and aligned with Prospects mission.
- Strengthen and steward relationships with donors board members and community partners as connected elements of Prospects broader engagement network including supporting effective relationships between Society Members and the Board where appropriate.
- Support the growth and development of Society Membership by identifying emerging leaders clarifying the purpose and value of involvement and representing Prospect in the community as needed.
Internal Collaboration
- Work across Prospect to identify and support engagement opportunities that strengthen program outcomes.
- Support staff in engaging effectively with volunteers Society Members donors and partners and maintain clear communication across stakeholder groups staff and leadership.
Program Development and Improvement
- Use feedback and data to refine engagement strategies and experiences identifying trends risks and opportunities that strengthen the engagement network.
- Translate insights into practical improvements to tools systems and processes that support sustainable growth and a strong stakeholder experience.
What Does it Take to Do This Job (KSAs Required)
- Post secondary education in a field related to relationship centered work such as communications community development social sciences or nonprofit management.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in stakeholder engagement volunteer management community relations or similar work.
- Ability to build trust effectively with diverse groups including Society Members volunteers donors board members and internal teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly facilitate effective conversations and support collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead coach and support staff or volunteers in a way that builds clarity accountability and confidence.
- Ability to hold mature values centered conversations that build alignment and strengthen relationships.
- Ability to represent Prospect externally with professionalism warmth and credibility.
- Strong proficiency in Salesforce or a similar CRM with confidence designing reports maintaining dashboards and ensuring accurate well-maintained data.
- Experience using SalesForce or a similar volunteer management software is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data identify patterns and turn insights into clear actions.
- Ability to design and evaluate engagement programs using feedback and data.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance strategic responsibilities with day-to-day program work.
- A relation-focused approach that supports connection and accountability.
- Able to navigate shifting priorities and maintain effectiveness in changing conditions.
